Passim is pleased to welcome singer-songwiter, and Somerville native, Antje Duvekot to Arrow Street Arts for a celebration and performance of her new album, No.
"This album marks a moment of reckoning, personally and culturally. The year I turned 50, I underwent a hysterectomy, navigated the end of a relationship, and found that my health depended on revising a lifelong role of people-pleasing “good girl.” What unfolded was an ebullient and eruptive next echelon of mid-life voice finding, a wholesale rejection of toxic patriarchy, and a personal sense of having nothing left to lose by speaking my truth".

Crafter of intricate, closely observed songs
Originally born in Germany and transplanted to the US as a young teen, Antje Duvekot began to hone her observational skills through a lens of biculturalism when she picked up a guitar during that move. Some years later, the confessional folk of Dar Williams and Ani DiFranco gave her license to share her observations, no matter how personal. Since her first emerging original songs, she has never let go of that tenet of vulnerability.

Passim Presents at Arrow Street Arts
This show is possible through a new partnership between Arrow Street Arts and Club Passim. Passim Presents at Arrow Street Arts joins the legendary music listening room Club Passim and the new state-of-the-art venue Arrow Street Arts for a series of concerts bringing folk music to a wider audience.
